mitral valve prolapse

Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is a condition where the valve between the heart's left atrium and left ventricle doesn't close properly. Instead of sealing tightly, the valve's flaps (or leaflets) bulge backward into the atrium during each heartbeat. This can sometimes cause a clicking sound or minor blood leak, but many people experience no symptoms. In most cases, MVP is benign and requires no treatment. However, in some instances, it may lead to irregular heart rhythms or slight leakage, which can be monitored or managed by a healthcare provider.
