Dr. Helen B. Taussig was an American cardiologist and a pioneer in the field of pediatric cardiology. Born in 1898, she co-founded the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Cardiology Clinic and is best known for developing the first successful open-heart surgery technique for children with congenital heart defects.
