Ministry of Defence of the Soviet Union
The Ministry of Defence of the Soviet Union was a government department responsible for the country’s military affairs, including the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Established in 1953, it oversaw military strategy, personnel, logistics, and defense policies during the Cold War. Led by the Minister of Defence, the ministry played a crucial role in the Soviet Union's military readiness and nuclear strategy, shaping its global influence. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the ministry was succeeded by similar organizations in the newly independent states, particularly in the Russian Federation.
