USSR Armed Forces

The USSR Armed Forces were the military forces of the Soviet Union, established to defend its territory and promote its global influence during the Cold War. They comprised four main branches: the Ground Forces (army), Navy, Air Force, and Strategic Rocket Forces, equipped with tanks, submarines, combat aircraft, and nuclear missiles. The military was highly centralized and prioritized rapid, large-scale responses, with a focus on nuclear deterrence. It played a key role in tense international relations, engaging in conflicts like the Afghanistan War and maintaining a significant presence in global geopolitics until the USSR's dissolution in 1991.
