Minas Basin
The Minas Basin is a large, shallow inlet located in Nova Scotia, Canada. It is known for its dramatic tidal changes, experiencing some of the highest tides in the world, with water levels rising and falling up to 16 meters (about 53 feet). These tides are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and the unique shape of the bay. The basin is part of the Bay of Fundy, which is famous for its rich marine biodiversity and is home to various wildlife, including migrating shorebirds and seals. The area also has potential for tidal energy generation.
