Millennium Development Goals

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) were a set of eight global objectives established by the United Nations in 2000 to tackle major development challenges by 2015. They aimed to improve lives by addressing issues like poverty, hunger, education, gender equality, child mortality, maternal health, disease, environmental sustainability, and global partnerships. Countries around the world committed to these goals to promote human development and reduce inequality. The MDGs helped shape policies and mobilize resources, leading to significant progress in many areas, although challenges and disparities remained. They paved the way for the subsequent Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
