Mikhail Chekhov

Mikhail Chekhov (1900–1955) was a prominent Russian actor, director, and theater teacher, known for developing a unique acting method that emphasized imagination and the inner life of characters. A nephew of the famous playwright Anton Chekhov, Mikhail studied under Konstantin Stanislavski, but sought to expand Stanislavski's techniques. His approach focused on creativity, emotional expression, and the use of physical movement to enhance performance. Chekhov's ideas had a significant impact on theater and acting, influencing many artists worldwide. He also worked in film and contributed to the establishment of acting schools, promoting his innovative methods even in the United States.
