metaphor

A metaphor is a figure of speech that describes one thing by saying it is another, highlighting similarities between the two. Instead of using “like” or “as” (which are used in similes), metaphors directly equate one object or idea with another to create a vivid image or understanding. For example, saying “time is a thief” suggests that time secretly takes things from us, just as a thief would. Metaphors help us see concepts in new ways, making ideas more relatable and memorable by connecting them to familiar experiences.
