Meroë

Meroë was an ancient city in present-day Sudan, significant as the capital of the Kingdom of Kush from around 800 BCE to 350 CE. It was an important center for trade, culture, and iron production, strategically located on the Nile River. Meroë is known for its distinctive pyramids, which served as royal tombs, and its wealth from resources like gold and iron. The city's unique blend of African and Egyptian influences reflects its diverse population and rich history. Today, Meroë is a UNESCO World Heritage site, recognized for its archaeological significance and fascinating ruins.
