Medjay

The Medjay were an ancient Nubian people often associated with ancient Egypt, particularly during the New Kingdom period (around 1550-1070 BCE). They originally lived in the region south of Egypt, in what is now Sudan. The term "Medjay" eventually referred to a specific group of desert warriors who served as elite guards and protectors in ancient Egypt, particularly for important sites and tombs. Their reputation for bravery and loyalty made them respected figures in Egyptian society, and they played a vital role in maintaining order and security in the region.
