Mary I

Mary I, also known as Mary Tudor or "Bloody Mary," was the Queen of England from 1553 to 1558. She was the daughter of King Henry VIII and sought to restore Roman Catholicism in England after her father’s split from the Catholic Church. Her reign was marked by efforts to reverse the Protestant reforms, which included burning Protestant heretics, earning her the nickname "Bloody Mary." Despite her efforts to strengthen Catholic influence, her reign was relatively short, and she was succeeded by her half-sister Elizabeth I, who re-established Protestantism.
