Mary Cassatt

Mary Cassatt was an American painter and printmaker, active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. She is best known for her intimate depictions of women and children, often portraying the bond between mothers and their children. Cassatt was a key figure in the Impressionist movement, which emphasized light and color over realistic detail. Living in France for much of her life, she broke barriers for women in art and was among the few female artists associated with the Impressionists. Her work contributed significantly to the representation of women's experiences in art.
