Marine Expeditionary Unit

A Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) is a versatile, self-sustaining military unit of the U.S. Marine Corps that can be rapidly deployed for a variety of missions. Typically consisting of about 2,200 Marines and sailors, a MEU combines ground combat, aviation, and logistics elements. They are designed to respond quickly to crises, provide humanitarian aid, or engage in combat operations. MEUs operate from amphibious ships, allowing them to launch operations directly from the sea. This capability makes them a critical tool for rapid response and military readiness in unpredictable environments.
