Mammoths
Mammoths were large, elephant-like mammals that roamed the Earth during the Ice Age. They had thick, shaggy fur to stay warm, long curved tusks used for foraging and defense, and a humped shoulder from a mound of fat. They primarily ate grasses and shrubs and lived in cold, open environments across North America, Europe, and Asia. Mammoths went extinct around 4,000 years ago, likely due to climate change and human hunting. Today, well-preserved mammoth remains provide valuable insights into ice age ecosystems and prehistoric life.
