Making Home Affordable

Making Home Affordable (MHA) was a U.S. government initiative launched in 2009 to help homeowners facing difficulties due to the financial crisis. It offered programs to reduce monthly mortgage payments and prevent foreclosure by refinancing loans or modifying existing mortgages. The goal was to provide financial relief, stabilize the housing market, and assist families in keeping their homes. MHA included various options, such as the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) and the Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP), aimed at making homeownership more sustainable during economic challenges.
