Luca Pacioli
Luca Pacioli was an Italian mathematician and Franciscan friar, often referred to as the "father of accounting." He lived during the Renaissance and is best known for his work in double-entry bookkeeping, a systematic method for tracking financial transactions. In 1494, he published "Summa de arithmetica, geometria, proporzioni et proportionalità," which included detailed explanations of this accounting method. Pacioli's contributions laid the foundation for modern accounting practices, helping businesses maintain accurate financial records, and his work continues to influence the field today.
