Louis Renault (lawyer)

Louis Renault (1843–1918) was a prominent French lawyer and legal scholar known for his contributions to public international law. He played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Permanent Court of Arbitration and was instrumental in advancing legal principles governing states' interactions. Renault also founded the French School of International Law. His influential writings helped shape modern legal thought, particularly in areas related to peace, diplomacy, and international relations. In recognition of his efforts, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1907 for his work in promoting peaceful dispute resolution between nations.
