London School of Medicine for Women
The London School of Medicine for Women, established in 1874, was the first institution in the UK dedicated to training women as doctors. Founded by pioneering figures like Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, the school aimed to combat gender discrimination in the medical field. It provided women with access to medical education and professional opportunities, which were largely denied to them at the time. The institution eventually became part of Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, reflecting its significant contribution to advancing women's roles in medicine and improving healthcare for all.
