Livonian Order

The Livonian Order was a medieval military and religious organization that emerged in the 13th century, part of the larger Teutonic Knights. Established in the region of Livonia (modern-day Latvia and Estonia), its members were primarily German knights and clergy who aimed to spread Christianity and expand German influence in the Baltic region. They engaged in military campaigns against local pagan tribes and played a significant role in the Christianization of the area. The Order declined in power during the 16th century, facing challenges from rising local powers and the Reformation, and ultimately dissolved in the late 17th century.
