
Liu Xie (Emperor Xuan)
Liu Xie, known as Emperor Xuan of Han, was a Chinese emperor who ruled from 73 to 49 BCE during the Western Han dynasty. He came to the throne at a young age after his predecessor, Emperor Zhang, died. His reign was marked by efforts to strengthen central authority and improve governance, while also facing challenges from powerful court officials and eunuchs. Emperor Xuan is remembered for promoting Confucianism and making significant contributions to the state’s bureaucracy, leading to a period of stability and economic growth in China. He is often regarded as a competent and well-intentioned ruler.
