Liliʻuokalani (Queen)
Liliʻuokalani (1838-1917) was the last reigning monarch of the Kingdom of Hawaii, serving from 1891 until the overthrow of the monarchy in 1893. As a skilled composer and advocate for Hawaiian sovereignty, she worked to preserve Hawaiian culture and language. Her reign faced significant challenges from American interests, leading to a coup supported by the U.S. government. After her abdication, Liliʻuokalani spent her later years fighting for Hawaiian rights and recognition. She remains a symbol of resistance and cultural pride for many Hawaiians today.
