Lightning
Lightning is a sudden electrical discharge that occurs within clouds, between clouds, or between a cloud and the ground. It forms when different parts of a cloud build up electrical charges due to interactions among water droplets, ice, and air currents. These charges create a large electrical potential difference, and when the tension becomes too great, a rapid, high-energy discharge happens—our lightning bolt. This process heats the air quickly, causing the bright flash and thunder we hear. Overall, lightning is a natural electrical phenomenon driven by complex atmospheric processes, releasing energy in a spectacular and powerful display.
