Leonora Carrington

Leonora Carrington (1917-2011) was a British-born artist, writer, and leading figure in the Surrealist movement. Known for her fantastical paintings and dreamlike imagery, she often explored themes of femininity, mythology, and the subconscious. Carrington’s work features whimsical creatures and richly symbolic narratives, reflecting her interest in alchemy and magic. After moving to Mexico in the 1940s, she became an influential member of the artistic community there. In addition to her visual art, Carrington wrote short stories and novels, solidifying her legacy as a pioneer in both visual art and literature.
