Lateral Flow Assay

A Lateral Flow Assay (LFA) is a simple, quick testing method used to detect specific substances, like proteins or pathogens, in a sample (usually liquid). It involves a test strip where the sample flows sideways along the strip. If the target substance is present, it binds to special chemicals on the strip, producing a visible result, like a colored line. LFAs are commonly used for home testing, such as pregnancy tests or rapid COVID-19 tests, because they are easy to use, don't require special equipment, and provide results in just minutes.
