Language of Thought Hypothesis
The Language of Thought Hypothesis (LOTH) suggests that our thoughts are structured in a mental language, akin to a code, which underlies how we think and reason. This internal language allows us to represent concepts, beliefs, and intentions, enabling us to manipulate and combine them to form complex ideas. Just as humans communicate in spoken languages, the mind uses this intrinsic language to process information, solve problems, and understand the world, making it fundamental to human cognition and understanding.
