Lactic acidosis

Lactic acidosis is a condition where there's too much lactic acid in the body, causing the blood to become overly acidic. This usually happens when the body's cells don't get enough oxygen, such as during severe illness, intense exercise, or certain medical conditions. Without enough oxygen, cells switch to an alternative way of producing energy that creates lactic acid as a byproduct. When these levels build up excessively, it can lead to symptoms like rapid breathing, weakness, and confusion. Lactic acidosis requires medical attention to identify and treat the underlying cause and restore a normal acid-base balance.
