La Reconquista
The Reconquista was a centuries-long process in the Iberian Peninsula (modern Spain and Portugal) during which Christian kingdoms gradually reclaimed territory from Muslim rulers who had conquered parts of the region starting in the early 8th century. Spanning approximately 800 years, it involved military campaigns, political alliances, and cultural shifts, ultimately leading to the fall of the last Muslim kingdom, Granada, in 1492. The Reconquista significantly shaped the history, culture, and geography of Spain and Portugal, blending medieval Christian and Islamic influences during this complex period.
