Kwanzaa
Kwanzaa is a week-long celebration observed from December 26 to January 1 that honors African heritage and culture. Established in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga, it emphasizes community, identity, and values through rituals, storytelling, and symbolic symbols like the kinara (candle holder). Each day focuses on one of seven principles called Nguzo Saba—such as unity, self-determination, and collective work—aiming to promote cultural pride and solidarity among people of African descent. Kwanzaa encourages reflection, family gatherings, and cultural reaffirmation, serving as a time to celebrate roots and shared traditions.
