Korean modern history is marked by significant events from the late 19th century to the present. After centuries of isolation, Korea faced imperial pressures, notably from Japan, leading to its annexation in 1910. The struggle for independence intensified during colonial rule, culminating in liberation in 1945. However, Korea was divided into North and South at the onset of the Cold War, resulting in the Korean War (1950-1953).
