Knights/Vassals

In the feudal system, knights were warriors who served a lord in exchange for land, protection, and support. This relationship was built on mutual obligations; in return for land grants known as fiefs, knights were expected to provide military service and loyalty. Vassals were those who held these lands, often forming a hierarchical structure where lords granted land to vassals, who in turn could have their own vassals. This system created a network of loyalty and service, essential for maintaining order and defense in medieval society.
