Kit Carson

Kit Carson was an American frontiersman, explorer, and Indian agent in the 19th century, known for his contributions to westward expansion. Born in 1809, he gained fame as a skilled trapper and guide, assisting notable figures like John C. Frémont on expeditions across the American West. Carson played a significant role during the Mexican-American War and in the U.S. government's westward policies, including controversial actions in relation to Native American tribes. His adventurous life symbolized the rugged individualism of the American frontier and has been romanticized in literature and popular culture. He died in 1868.
