Kisan Andolan
The Kisan Andolan, or Farmers' Protest, was a significant movement in India that began in 2020. It emerged in response to three agricultural reform laws introduced by the government, which farmers believed would favor large corporations and threaten their livelihoods. Thousands of farmers from various states, particularly Punjab and Haryana, protested, demanding the repeal of these laws and better prices for their produce. The movement gained national and international attention, highlighting issues of agricultural policy and farmers' rights in India, ultimately leading the government to suspend the laws in late 2021.
