Kingdom of Hanover

The Kingdom of Hanover was a German state that existed from 1814 until 1866. Originally part of the Holy Roman Empire, it became a kingdom after the Napoleonic Wars. Hanover gained prominence because it was ruled by the British monarch, who was also the King of Hanover, until the two crowns were separated in 1901. The kingdom primarily had a constitutional monarchy and was known for its rich cultural heritage. Hanover was absorbed into Prussia in 1866 following the Austro-Prussian War, ending its status as an independent kingdom. Today, Hanover is a city in Lower Saxony, Germany.
