Khilafat Conferences

The Khilafat Conferences were a series of meetings held in the early 20th century, primarily in India, by Muslims who aimed to support the Ottoman Empire after World War I. The Ottoman Sultan was seen as the Caliph, the leader of the Muslim community. Following the empire's defeat and dismemberment, these conferences sought to unite Indian Muslims in protest against British colonial rule and to advocate for the preservation of the Caliphate. The conferences played a significant role in mobilizing political and nationalist sentiments among Indian Muslims and were closely linked with the Indian independence movement.
