Karst

Karst is a type of landscape formed by the dissolution of soluble rocks like limestone, gypsum, or dolomite. Over time, rainwater, which is slightly acidic, seeps into the ground and slowly wears away the rock, creating features such as caves, sinkholes, underground rivers, and rugged terrain with ridges and towers. These landscapes are characterized by their unique underground drainage systems and irregular surface features. Karst formations are common in many regions worldwide and are important for their natural beauty, water reservoirs, and unique ecosystems.
