Küçük Kaynarca Treaty
The Küçük Kaynarca Treaty, signed in 1774, ended the Russo-Turkish War between the Russian Empire and the Ottoman Empire. It marked a significant shift in power, granting Russia new territories and the right to protect Orthodox Christians within the Ottoman realm. This treaty also allowed Russia to establish a naval presence in the Black Sea and opened up trade opportunities. It weakened Ottoman influence and showcased the rising power of Russia, paving the way for further territorial changes and conflicts in the region in the years to come.
