John Rackham, known as Calico Jack, was an infamous English pirate active in the early 18th century, particularly in the Caribbean. He is best remembered for his flamboyant style, often wearing calico fabric, which earned him his nickname. Rackham captained a ship called the Revenge, and he was notable for his partnership with two female pirates, Anne Bonny and Mary Read. His piracy was characterized by daring raids against merchant ships, but he was eventually captured in 1720, tried, and sentenced to hang. Calico Jack has become a legendary figure in pirate lore, symbolizing adventurous and rebellious spirits.
