
John Paul Jones (naval commander)
John Paul Jones was a Scottish-American naval commander during the American Revolutionary War, often referred to as the "Father of the U.S. Navy." He is best known for his daring raids against British ships and his famous victory in 1779 near England, where he declared, "I have not yet begun to fight!" His leadership and innovative tactics helped establish the U.S. Navy's reputation. Jones commanded several ships and is celebrated for his naval battles and contributions to American independence, becoming a symbol of courage and determination in maritime history. He died in Paris in 1792 and is buried in Annapolis, Maryland.
