USS Ranger

USS Ranger (CV-61) was a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier operated from 1957 to 1993. It was one of the first supercarriers built without a traditional catapult system, using an angled flight deck to accommodate jet aircraft. The ship served during the Cold War, conducting military operations, training missions, and supporting NATO allies. It played a key role in projecting American naval power globally, including deployments to the Mediterranean and Pacific. After decommissioning in 1993, USS Ranger was eventually scrapped, ending its nearly four decades of service as a vital component of U.S. naval strength.
