JIEDDO (Joint IED Defeat Organization)

The Joint IED Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) was a U.S. Department of Defense initiative established to combat improvised explosive devices (IEDs) used by insurgents, particularly in conflicts like Iraq and Afghanistan. JIEDDO coordinated efforts across military branches and agencies to improve detection, defeat, and protection against IED threats. Its mission included developing technologies, training military personnel, and sharing intelligence to save lives and enhance operational effectiveness in areas where IEDs posed significant risks. Though it officially transitioned to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency in 2017, its legacy continues in ongoing efforts to counter explosive threats.
