IED (Improvised Explosive Device)
An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) is a homemade bomb constructed and deployed in ways different from conventional military devices. Typically assembled from readily available materials, such as chemicals, explosives, and electronic components, IEDs are designed to cause damage, injury, or death by detonating in targeted areas. They are often used in asymmetric warfare or insurgencies because they can be concealed easily and adapted to specific tactical needs. IEDs pose significant security risks due to their unpredictability and potential for widespread destruction, making detection, defusal, and prevention critical components of military and law enforcement countermeasures.
