Jesse Walter Fewkes

Jesse Walter Fewkes (1850-1930) was an American anthropologist and archaeologist known for his research on Native American cultures, particularly the prehistoric peoples of the American Southwest. He played a significant role in the study of the Hopi and Zuni tribes and is recognized for his work with the cliff dwellings in Mesa Verde, Colorado. Fewkes was also a pioneer in using photography for documenting archaeological sites and peoples.
