Jai Singh II, also known as Sawai Jai Singh, was a notable ruler of the Kachwaha dynasty in India during the early 18th century. He is best known for founding the city of Jaipur, which became the capital of Rajasthan. An enlightened patron of arts and science, he established observatories in several cities, including Delhi and Jaipur, to study astronomy.
