Jacques Roux
Jacques Roux was a French priest and revolutionary figure during the French Revolution in the late 18th century. He became known for his passionate advocacy for the poor and working-class, arguing for social justice and equality. Roux was part of the radical Montagnard faction and was critical of the wealth and privileges of the aristocracy. His speeches and writings expressed the grievances of the common people. However, his radical views led to his arrest and execution in 1794. Roux remains a symbol of early socialist thought and the struggle for workers' rights in the face of inequality.
