intersex community
The intersex community consists of individuals born with physical sex characteristics that don't fit typical definitions of male or female. This can include variations in chromosomes, hormones, and reproductive or genital anatomy. Intersex traits can appear at birth or become evident at puberty. Historically, intersex individuals have faced stigma and medical interventions to "normalize" their bodies, but there is a growing movement advocating for visibility, acceptance, and the right to choose their own bodies and identities. The intersex community emphasizes the importance of understandings of diversity in human biology and the need for respect and rights for all individuals.
