International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor

The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) is an international project to develop a new type of nuclear energy called fusion. Fusion mimics how the sun produces energy by combining light atoms, like hydrogen, to form heavier atoms and release huge amounts of energy. Unlike traditional nuclear reactors, fusion doesn't produce long-lived radioactive waste and uses abundant fuel sources. ITER aims to prove that fusion can be a safe, sustainable, and nearly limitless energy source for the future. It involves scientists and engineers from around the world working together to create a controlled fusion reaction on Earth.
