Interahamwe

The Interahamwe was a violent Hutu militia group in Rwanda during the 1990s. They played a central role in the 1994 Rwandan genocide, where they orchestrated mass killings primarily targeting the Tutsi minority and moderate Hutus. Originating from the Hutu political movement, their actions resulted in the deaths of approximately 800,000 people over a few months. The group was known for their brutality and use of machetes, propaganda, and organized violence. After the genocide, many members were prosecuted for crimes against humanity, and the group was disbanded. The Interahamwe's history is a reminder of the devastating consequences of ethnic hatred and hate-driven violence.
