Inkatha Freedom Party

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) is a political party in South Africa, founded in the 1970s by Mangosuthu Buthelezi. It primarily represents the Zulu ethnic group and was originally formed to promote Zulu nationalism. During the late apartheid era and the early post-apartheid period, the IFP was involved in violent conflicts with other political groups, particularly the African National Congress (ANC). While it has experienced fluctuating electoral support, the IFP continues to play a role in South African politics, advocating for issues such as regional autonomy and cultural recognition for the Zulu people.
