Infliximab (Remicade)
Infliximab, commonly known by the brand name Remicade, is a medication used to treat autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and psoriasis. It works by targeting and blocking a protein called tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), which is involved in inflammation. By inhibiting this protein, Infliximab helps reduce inflammation and alleviate symptoms associated with these conditions. It is usually administered through an IV infusion in a healthcare setting. While it can be very effective for many patients, it may cause side effects and requires monitoring by a healthcare professional.
