Infliximab

Infliximab is a medication used to treat autoimmune diseases, where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks its own tissues. It works by blocking a specific protein called tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), which plays a role in inflammation. By inhibiting this protein, Infliximab helps reduce inflammation and alleviate symptoms in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, and psoriasis. Patients usually receive it through an intravenous infusion, and while it can be very effective, it may also have side effects and requires monitoring by healthcare professionals.
